Georgia Rotates Troops in Iraq

300 servicemen from the 23rd Battalion of the Kutaisi Second Brigade will leave for Iraq on November 30 to become part of the coalition forces stationed there.


The Georgian servicemen will rotate the 1st Infantry Battalion of the Georgian Defense Ministry and stay in Iraq for the next eight months.


Currently, there are more than 850 Georgian troops stationed in Iraq making Georgia one of the most significant contributors to the coalition forces in terms of a country’s per capita troop deployment.
