Watchdog Says Georgia Falls Back in Media Freedom Index
Georgia’s ranking fell slightly in the Worldwide Press Freedom Index, to 99th place from 94th last year, according to annual report issued by the Paris-based watchdog group Reporters Without Borders on October 20.
The index measures the state of press freedom in the world and is based solely on events between September 1, 2004 and September 1, 2005. The report does not specify reasons behind Georgia?s fall back in the index.
Only Moldova, ranked 74th is ahead of Georgia among the Commonwealth of Independent States.
