Tbilisi Claims Moscow’s Aid to S.Ossetia Includes Military Equipment

Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Giorgi Khaindrava condemned sending of a humanitarian aid to breakaway South Ossetia by the Moscow Mayor’s Office, which as claimed by the Georgian side includes mostly the military equipment.

“This aid is far from ‘humanitarian.’ Residents of Tskhinvali [South Ossetian capital] do not need field tents and kitchens, as well as uniforms and vehicles,” a statement issued by the Georgian State Minister on June 25 reads.

The Georgian side also complains that this aid is delivered to South Ossetia without prior notification of Tbilisi and without undergoing Georgian customs procedures.

“In this case we witness violation of international law, related to illegal crossing the border,” the statement reads.

According to the Russian media reports Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov attended the ceremony of departure of this aid from Moscow on June 25.
