Parliament Discusses Proposal to Reduce Pre-Trial Custody
The Georgian Parliament discussed the first hearing of draft amendments to the Criminal Procedural Code of Georgia, which envisage the reduction of the pre-trial custody period from the current nine to four months. Voting on the amendments will be held later today.
According to the draft amendments, the initial pre-trial detention timeframe is limited to two months, with the right to further prolong custody twice by one month each time.
