Saakashvili Speaks of Successes, Presents New Cabinet

President Saakashvili met with students from the Tbilisi State University and presented a reshuffled cabinet, ahead of an anticipated confidence vote in the Parliament scheduled for this week.

In his address to the students, President Saakashvili spoke much about the successes the government achieved in 2004, saying that the country?s leadership accomplished the major task of putting “an end to the destruction of the state,” and, furthermore, of “launching the creation of frames for the state and the starting of construction of new state institutions.?

Mikheil Saakashvili?s speech was mostly in the vein of his annual address to the Parliament on February 10. However, in the recent speech, Saakashvili emphasized more the necessity of the ?entire society to take the initiative.?

?I can build the army, I can build the police but development of the economy is up to the entire society,? Saakashvili said.
