President Nominates New Cabinet

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili presented the new cabinet to the Parliament for consideration on February 11.
 
As anticipated, Zurab Nogaideli is nominated as the Prime Minister while Georgian Ambassador to Russia Valeri Chechelashvili will replace Zurab Nogaideli on the Finance Minister?s position.


Chairman of the Supreme Court Kote Kemularia is nominated as the new Justice Minister. He will also assume the Vice-Premier?s duties. Currently, the Vice-Premier is Giorgi Baramidze, who also serves as the State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Issues.


Kote Kemularia will replace Giorgi Papuashvili at the Justice Minister?s position. Papuashvili is now nominated as the Minister of Environment. He will replace Tamar Lebanidze.
 
All other Ministers will retain their posts.
 
The parliamentary committees will discuss the new candidacies until February 16. Afterwards, as Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said, a special session will be convened, either on February 17 or February 18, to approve the reshuffled government.
