Most AWOL Soldiers Return to Mukhrovani Base

More than half of those servicemen who went AWOL on December 20, in a protest against the social conditions in the army, have returned to their military base in Mukhrovani, located near Tbilisi.
 
According to the Ombudsman?s Office, about 40 servicemen returned to Mukhrovani, while 20 were dispatched to the Telavi military base.
 
?The current conditions of the servicemen are much better. The Ombudsman?s Office is closely watching the servicemen?s conditions there,? Valery Dzvelaia, the representative of the Georgian Ombudsman?s Office, told Civil Georgia.      

An investigation regarding the Mukhrovani incident is still underway. Officials expect that the investigation will be over in January.
