Shida Kartli Governor Attacked
The Governor of the Shida Kartli region, Mikheil Kareli, was attacked near the Ossetian conflict zone on May 24th. Kareli told the Tbilisi-based Imedi television station that several armed men in Ossetian police uniforms opened fire on his car. No one was injured.
?This attack was caused by the vigorous fight that we have launched against smuggling,? Kareli said.
