$3m Needed for Parliamentary Polls

The Central Election Commission approved on January 16 the budget for holding parliamentary elections in Georgia scheduled for March 28. The total budget is about 7 million Lari (approximately $3,1 million).

The OSCE member states granted Georgia more than 5 million euros for holding presidential and parliamentary elections. A part of this funding was already spent during the presidential elections on January 4.

The approved budget does not envisage the funds necessary for training election commission members and computerization of voter lists.

“USAID is funding this process. We have already reached a hand-shake agreement in this regard,” CEC Chairman Zurab Tchiaberashvili said on January 16.
