Abashidze against Voter Registration
Aslan Abashidze, head of Adjara Autonomous Republic, in his televised address made on the Adjara TV on December 21, criticized decision of the Central Election Commission regarding making the voter lists through voter registration process.
According to procedure, the voters go to the precincts and fill out the special forms, which will enable them to cast ballot on January 4 snap presidential elections.
“The procedure will lead to decrease of actual number of the voters. It will be used as a mean for ballot rigging,” Aslan Abashidze said.
The voter registration started on December 15 and the initial deadline for registration was December 21; however, the CEC has prolonged the voter registration process until December 25.
More than million voters underwent the registration so far. There are around 2,6 million voters in Georgia.
