U.S. Launched Training of Fourth Georgian Battalion

The training of the fourth Georgian battalion was launched on September 13, in frames of the U.S.-funded Georgia Train-and-Equip program (GTEP).

Telavi Infantry Battalion will be trained by the U.S. military instructors. So far the Command & Control Center, 11th Brigade Commando Battalion, Sachkhere 16th Mountain Battalion of the National Guard and Kojori Special Operations Unit were trained and equipped

The GTEP, for which the US Government has allocated 64 million dollars, started last May.

The Georgian Defense Ministry and the American military instructors say that the program is implemented without delays and will end in 2004 as scheduled.
