Reservist Policemen Leave Akhmeta Region

(Tbilisi, August 28 2002, Civil Georgia) 500 reservist policemen left Akhmeta region, informs “Interfax”.

Head of the Public Relations of Ministry of Internal Affairs Paata Gomelauri could not approve this information. “It is not excluded that certain number of policemen from reserve groups left Akhmeta region yesterday. Though, number of Internal Troops deployed in the Pankisi Gorge is not changed”, Paata Gomelauri told “Civil Georgia”.

Additional units of Internal Troops entered the Pankisi Gorge on August 25 in order to conduct anti-criminal operation. According to the ministers of law enforcement agencies, situation remains stable in Pankisi so far.
