Shevardnadze Sent Letter to Putin
(Tbilisi, August 26 2002, Civil Georgia) On 26 of August president Shevardnadze informed journalists at the briefing that he had sent the letter to president Putin concerning the bombardment of Georgian territory by Russian aviation.
“Apart of concrete facts, there are some suggestions about future relations between Georgia and Russia”, remarked Shevardnadze.
Asked what should Georgian military do if bombing is repeated, Shevrdnadze replied, “Georgian military structures shall do everything what each independent nation have to do in such cases”.
Russian aviation bombed Georgian territory on 23 of August. According to the latest information, one person died and 7 are wounded as result.
