Russia Prepared Documentation for Extradition of Chechens
(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 14, 2002) – Prosecutor’s Office of Chechnya has already prepared all the necessary documentation for extradition of 13 Chechens, allegedly fighters, detained in Georgia, Russian media sources report.
Georgia refused the Russian side to hand over detained Chechens because of insufficient evidences proving that they participated in fights against the Russian Federal Troops in rebel Republic of Chechnya. Georgian border guards arrested 13 armed Chechens on August 3-5.
The court decided to keep all the 13 Chechens in the jail in Tbilisi for three months pending investigation.
