Russian Jets Bomb Georgian Territory
(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 4, 2002) – Georgian Border Guard Department reports today that the three flying objects violated Georgian airspace today in the morning bombing adjacent areas of the Girevi border checkpoint causing no casualties.
According to the Georgian Border Guard Department allegedly three Russian fighter jets SU-25 violated Georgian airspace near the border with rebel Chechen Republic.
This is the third case of bombardment of the Georgian territory supposedly by the Russian fighter jets and helicopters during the last week. Georgian Foreign Ministry named the bombings as an act of aggression against the sovereign state. Russian side denies Georgia’s accusation.
