Shevardnadze Concerned with Bombardment of Georgian Territory
(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 31, 2002) – “Only the deep concern can be expressed concerning the bombing of Georgia territory,” President Shevardnadze told the reporters today.
Georgian territory was twice bombed on July 28-29 by the fighter jets and helicopters, which entered the Georgian airspace from the Russian side.
“The only excuse of what has happened could be the mistake of the pilot. It was 3 am and it was too dark, the pilot could make a mistake,” Shevardnadze said.
