Parliamentary Leadership Meets the President

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 26, 2002) – Parliamentary faction leaders meet President Shevardnadze on July 26 to discuss the issue of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The Parliamentary leadership discussed the issue last week at the bureau meeting. The pro-Presidential factions are against of discussing the Cabinet issue by this Parliament.

Last year Eduard Shevardnadze offered the Parliament draft, which considers creation of the Cabinet. According to the draft the President gains more power than he has now. The most of the Parliamentarians are against of this draft.
