Parliamentarians Fail to Start Session

(Tbilisi, June 25, Civil Georgia) – The part of the MPs refuses to participate in the special Parliamentary session on June 25, as they claim that the session is convened with the procedural violations.

President Shevardnadze convened the Parliamentary special session for today. There is no report of State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze concerning the implementation of budget for the first quarter of the in the schedule of the session. Only the President can consider the schedule of the special Parliamentary session.

The part of the MPs demand to include the State Minister’s report in the schedule. Avtandil Jorbenadze took the responsibility for the implementation of the budget, but the government failed to meet its budget targets for the first quarter of 2002.

The Traditionalists faction refuses to take part in the session in case the State Minister’s does not make a report.
