New Business Ombudsman Appointed

Mikheil Daushvili has been appointed as the new Business Ombudsman, replacing Irakli Lekvinadze, who resigned on November 11. Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia introduced the new business ombudsman at today’s government session.

From August 2018, Daushvili served as the Director of the Information-Analytical Department of the Interior Ministry. Earlier, he was the Deputy Director of the same department.

According to him, Daushvili’s “main task” will be supporting business “where the law allows.” “I am confident that he will deal with this task with dignity,” PM Gakharia stated.

The Business Ombudsman’s Office was set up eight years ago upon the Georgian Government’s initiative. The Georgian Prime Minister appoints a business ombudsperson through the Parliament Chairman’s consent.
