Georgia’s January Preliminary GDP Up 2.3%

Georgia’s economy grew 2.3% year-on-year in January after 0.8% contraction in December, according to preliminary data released by the state statistics office, Geostat, on Thursday.

Real GDP grew 6.1% in 2012, according to preliminary figures. 

Growth in the first quarter of 2012 stood at 6.7% y/y, accelerating to 8.2% in the second quarter and slowing down at 7.5% in the third quarter and then to 2.5% y/y in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to preliminary data.
