Russia, Georgia Agreed on the Joint Plan of Action on Refugees’ Repatriation
(Tbilisi, February 16, Civil Georgia) – Russian delegation on Chechen refugees’ repatriation and Georgian authorities signed a joint plan of action regarding the return of refugees living in Pankisi gorge on February 15.
Yuri Brazhnikov, Russian Emergency Deputy Minister, who led the Russian delegation, stated that according to the plan census of Chechen refugees will be held in March. In April the registration of those persons will start who wish to return to Chechnya.
Russian side guarantees security in case the refugees will return to their homes, Brazhnikov stated on February 16.
Sides do not specify the dates in which the process of repatriation may start.
Russian delegation visited Georgia on February 14-15.
