Education Minister Against Reformers’ Activity

(Tbilisi, February 13, Civil Georgia) – At the government’s meeting on February 13, Education Minister Aleksandre Kartozia expressed concern regarding the New National Movement’s intention to involve teachers in the political activity.

MP Mikheil Saakashvili, leader of the New National Movement, and his associates held several meetings with the teachers concerning the salary problems.

Education Minister stated that Saakashvili intends to involve teachers in his political activity.

At the previous government’ meeting on February 6, President Shevardnadze also condemned political parties’ intentions to politicize society.   

The President did not specify which political groups he meant.
