Protests Continue Demanding Peacekeepers’ Withdrawal
(Tbilisi, January 27, Civil Georgia) – It has been eight days now since a protest rally, demanding Russian peacekeepers withdrawal from the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone, continues at Enguri bridge, administrative border between breakaway region of Abkhazia and the rest of the Georgia.
MP Givi Lominadze and other members of the Parliamentary faction “Abkhazia” visit Enguri bridge on January 27. Givi Lominadze states that Russian peacekeepers at least should relocate deeper into the Abkhazian territory at Ghalidzga River.
Georgian Foreign Affairs Minister states that Georgia holds negotiations with Russia and other CIS member republics to change mandate of the Russian peacekeeping troops.
