Russia Rejects Sevardnadze’s Proposal to Mediate in Chechnya

Russian President’s Assistant and Spokesperson Sergei Yastrzshembskii rejected Georgia’s President Eduard Sevardnadze’s proposal to mediate in peace talks between the Official Moscow and Chechen rebels.

“Russia will deal with the problem in Chechnya independently without any international mediation”, Sergei Yastrzshembskii stated today.
