Shevardnadze had to Accept Saakashvili’s Resignation

Initially President Shevardnadze did not sign Saakashvili’s request to resign, but Justice Minister has re-submitted to the State Chancellery another request to terminate his authority. President did not have the legal right to decline such appeal and satisfied Saakashvili’s request.

If Shevardnadze had not approved Saakashvili’s resignation, latter would not be able to run for MP from Vake district of Tbilisi city. Saakashvili stated, that President Shevardnadze tried to obstruct him.
