Georgia Takes Olympic Bronze in 66kg Greco-Roman

Shmagi Bolkvadze captured Georgia’s third medal of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games after winning bronze in men’s 66kg Greco-Roman wrestling.

Bolkvadze, 22, who is 2014 junior world champion, defeated Japan’s Tomohiro Inoue in the bronze medal match on August 16.

Bolkvadze lost in semifinal to Serbian Davor Štefanek, who ultimately won the gold medal. 

Lasha Shavdatuashvili gave Georgia its first medal of the Rio 2016 after winning bronze in men’s 73-kilogram category in judo on August 8, and Varlam Liparteliani took silver in men’s 90 kg judo.
