Saakashvili Visits Singapore
President Saakashvili, who is visiting Singapore, met President Tony Tan on July 29 and discussed bilateral relations and “deepening of cooperation”, according to the Georgian president’s office.
It said in a press release: “Mikheil Saakashvili noted during a conversation with Tony Tan that Singaporean model served as a guarantor of success for Georgian reforms.”
Singaporean president’s office said Saakashvili paid “a courtesy call” to his Singaporean counterpart.
Accompanied by president of Georgian central bank, Giorgi Kadagidze, and a group of UNM lawmakers, President Saakashvili also met Singapore’s Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan.
Saakashvili also met Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong; Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang and Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong.
Singapore’s Foreign Ministry said that President Saakashvili and Singaporean leaders “affirmed the friendly relations between Georgia and Singapore” and “exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade and investments.”
