CEC: Voter Turnout 60.8%

2,197,173 voters cast ballot in the October 1 parliamentary elections making turnout 60.8%, according to the Central Election Commission (CEC).

Voter turnout was 53.9% in the 2008 parliamentary elections.

CEC is expected to start releasing early official results of the Monday’s polls after 3am on October 2.

The highest voter turnout was reported in Sachkhere constituency in the Imereti region, which is the native district of Bidzina Ivanishvili, leader of the Georgian Dream opposition coalition. 76.9% voter turnout was in Tbilisi’s Mtatsminda constituency.

The lowest voter turnout, 35.59%, was reported in Tsalka municipality, which is in the Kvemo Kartli region.
