International Day Against Homophobia/Family Purity Rallies

Demonstrators gathered outside the Government building in Tbilisi marking the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. A counter-demonstration marking the Family Purity day, set by the Patriarch Ilia II in 2014, was held at various locations in downtown Tbilisi, culminating into a march to the Sameba cathedral. The rallies come three years after the Orthodox clergy-led crowd violently attacked an attempted anti-homophobia rally.
