May 26 Military Parade
Less than eleven hours after the riot police broke up People’s Assembly protest rally outside the Parliament shortly after midnight on May 26, Georgian troops and military hardware paraded on the same site on the Rustaveli Avenue to mark the Independence Day. President Saakashvili said in a speech at the parade that scenario for the recent protest rallies was written in Russia as part of provocations by “our enemy and occupant.”
