PM Says Signs of Economic Growth Emerge
Increase in business sector turnover in January, indicates that the economy will grow in the first quarter of 2010, PM Nika Gilauri, said on February 19.
“Companies’ turnover in January increased 10% against last year’s January; the figure equals to the one which was observed in January, 2008… I hope that this positive trend will continue, enabling to have positive figures in terms of economic activities by the end of the first quarter,” he said at a government session.
No exact figures are yet available from the Georgian statistics office.
Georgia’s economy contracted 4% in 2009, according to the government and it forecasts 2% growth in 2010.
