Georgia Names German Sculptor as Ambassador in Berlin
German sculptor, Gabriela von Habsburg, who also holds Georgian citizenship, was named by President Saakashvili as Georgia’s new ambassador to Germany, replacing Levan Duchidze.
“She is a great friend of Georgia, who has been actively engaged on an informal level in defending Georgia’s interests in the European states throughout recent years,” said MP Akaki Minashvili of the ruling party, who chairs parliamentary committee for foreign affairs. “We are sure that her appointment will bring to relations between Georgia and Germany to a new level.”
Gabriela von Habsburg, who has yet to be approved on the post by the Parliament, has been teaching in the Academy of Arts in Tbilisi since 2001.
