Georgia to Maintain Maximum Number of Troops at 37,000

Georgia will keep a formal maximum number of its troops for 2010 at 37,000, according to the draft law presented to the Parliament by the President.

The figure was increased in July, 2008 from 32,000 to 37,000.

According to information available on the Defense Ministry website, the actual number of troops is currently about 23,500.
