Georgia Says Visa, Readmission Treaties with EU Agreed
The Georgian Foreign Ministry said it had agreed a text of agreements on visa facilitation and readmission with European Commission.
The text was agreed during the talks in Brussels on August 24-25, during which the Georgian side’s “priority issues” were taken into consideration, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said without further elaboration.
It also said that the agreements, which has yet to be approved by EU members, was expected to be signed before the end of this year.
Meanwhile, Estonian Foreign Minister, Urmas Paet, who met with his Georgian counterpart, Grigol Vashadze, in Tallinn on August 25, said his country supported “the rapid conclusion of visa facilitation and readmission agreements between the EU and Georgia,” the Estonian Foreign Ministry reported.
Paet also said that Tallinn was also in favor of launching negotiations on a deep and comprehensive free trade agreement and on association agreement between EU and Georgia “as soon as Georgia is ready.”
