MIA: Policeman Killed at S.Ossetian Border
A Georgian policeman was killed in a village at the breakaway South Ossetian border with a single shot fired from the territory controlled by the South Ossetian militias, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said.
It said that the policeman was killed at 10am local time on January 16 in the Kareli district’s village of Knolevi, south west from Tskhinvali, when he was standing close to the local police station.
“According to the preliminary information the fire was shot from a sniper rifle with silencer,” the Georgian Interior Ministry said.
With this recent incident the death toll of the Georgian policemen after the August war in the areas adjacent to breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetian increased to eleven.
