Tbilisi Reports on Shooting at Abkhaz Border

The Georgian Interior Ministry said that the village of Orsantia at the Abkhaz administrative border came under fire of automatic grenade launcher early on January 8.

The Ministry said that fire was opened from village of Otobaia in the Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia.

Laurens Kogonia, chief of the Abkhaz police in the Gali district, has denied the Abkhaz involvement in the incident.

“There have been no shots fired from the Abkhaz territory in direction of Orsantia,” he told the Abkhaz news agency, Apsnipress.
