Bush, Medvedev Discuss ‘Differences on Georgia’

“Differences on Georgia” were among the issues discussed when George W. Bush held his last meeting as U.S. President with a Russian counterpart on November 22, official said.

“President Bush and President Medvedev had a cordial, but honest and direct exchange," White House spokesperson Dana Perino said in a statement. “They discussed a variety of issues, including our differences on Georgia, which continue.”

The meeting, held on a sideline of a summit of Asia Pacific leaders in Peru, was the first one between the leaders since the August war in Georgia.

"The both presidents have noted that we still have differences in our relations, but there was a mutual desire – and it was said first by President Bush – not to get obsessed with these differences which may exist between the two superpowers and instead to address practical issues, which are important for both countries and for the entire international community,” RIA Novosti news agency quoted Lavrov as saying after the meeting.
