Bakradze: November 7 was a ‘Bitter Lesson’
Parliamentary Chairman, Davit Bakradze, said last year’s November 7 events were “a bitter lesson,” including for the authorities.
In remarks, which were fully in line of the President Saakashvili’s earlier statement on the matter, Bakradze also said that today Georgia was more democratic than it was last November.
“This is a bitter and important lesson,” he told journalists on November 7, “a lesson, which taught us that a permanent dialogue is necessary, constant communication is needed with each other no matter how serious our political differences are. This is a lesson, which showed how important the responsibility of political leaders is for the country’s security and its future.”
"It can be said that during last year the authorities have numerously shown that we have drawn conclusions from last November 7,” he continued. “During this year the processes have developed in direction of a dialogue, reconciliation and more unity. I am glad to say that today, on November 7, 2008 Georgia is more developed in terms of democracy, reforms and unity than it was a year ago.”
