Japan Pledges USD 200 mln for Georgia
At the Brussels donors’ conference Japan has pledged USD 200 million over the next three years with much of the fund to go for improvement of the country’s transport infrastructure, AFP reported.
“I strongly believe that the contribution by the international community, including Japan… will aid the prosperity of Georgia and its people and will revitalize the regional economy as a whole,” AFP quoted Yasutoshi Nishimura, the Japanese deputy foreign minister, as saying in Brussels.
The pledge makes Japan the second largest national donor for post-war Georgia after the United States, which has pledged USD 1 billion.
