State of Emergency Extended in Russian-Occupied Areas
Parliament approved on October 16 a prolongation of the state of emergency in the areas occupied by Russian troops until October 31.
The state of emergency, which has already been extended twice and was due to expire on October 17, is still in force in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as in the village of Perevi in the Sachkhere region. The village is on the administrative border with breakaway South Ossetia.
Parliament has postponed the third hearing and final approval of the law on occupied territories for a week, citing the need for consultations with international organizations.
