Russian, German Leaders to Discuss Georgia
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel in St. Petersburg on October 2 to discuss the situation in the Caucasus, a Kremlin source said on Wednesday.
“The leaders will discuss key issues on the international agenda, including the situation in the Caucasus,” RIA Novosti news agency quoted the source as saying. “They will openly exchange opinions on ways to restore peace and stability in the region, undermined by Georgia’s aggression against the people of South Ossetia.”
The Russian and German leaders last met in mid-August in Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi, where they discussed the situation around South Ossetia.
