Tskhinvali Celebrated ‘Independence Day’

A military parade was held in the capital of breakaway South Ossetia, Tskhinvali, on September 20, marking the announcement of independence by the region 18 years ago.

The parade involved Georgian armored vehicles, including Turkish-made wheeled light armored vehicles, Cobra, taken from retreating Georgian forces during the August war.

Later, resembling World War II victory parades on Moscow’s Red Square, Georgian flags were thrown to the ground by South Ossetian militiamen on Tskhinvali’s main square.
