Sarkozy: Saakashvili Guarantees Non-Use of Force

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said President Saakashvili had undertaken a commitment not to use force against Abkhazia or South Ossetia.

“I have handed over a letter to President Medvedev from President Saakashvili [guaranteeing] not to use force in Abkhazia. And the same commitment was made in the August 12 [six-point ceasefire] agreement,” Sarkozy said at a joint news conference with his Russian counterpart after four-hour talks in Moscow.
