Two Vice-Speakers Elected
Ruling party lawmakers Mikheil Machavariani and Anzor Bolkvadze were elected as Vice-Speakers of Parliament on June 11.
Machavariani held the same position in the previous parliament. MP Bolkvadze won his seat in the Khulo single-mandate constituency of the Adjarian Autonomous Republic. In accordance with the law, one vice-speaker must be a representative from Adjara.
Machavariani was elected with 110 votes to 0 and Bolkvadze with 111 to 0.
Davit Bakradze, the parliamentary chairman, reiterated at the session that the ruling party was ready “to give more powers to the opposition, including vice-speaker posts.”
