‘Bakradze will Definitely Become New Parliamentary Speaker’ – Official

Mikheil Machavariani, a vice-speaker of the outgoing parliament, who was re-elected in the new parliament under the ruling party’s list, said Davit Bakradze would become new parliamentary chairperson.

The Georgian media is speculating that Bakradze, ex-foreign minister, who became number one in the ruling party’s list after Nino Burjanadze’s surprise decision to quit the ruling party last month, may again be appointed as the foreign minister.

Mikheil Machavariani, however, told Mze TV on May 28: “I can tell you for sure that Davit Bakradze will definitely be the new chairman of the parliament.”
