Georgia Unveils a List of Enterprises Open for Privatization

Georgian Economy Minister Kakha Bendukidze presented a list on July 15 of those state-run enterprises which will be privatized within the next two years.


The Tbilisi Aircraft Factory ? TbilAviaMsheni , which produces 4 modifications of Su 25 attack plane, tops the list which includes a total of 372 enterprises and firms.


The Rustavi Metallurgical Plant, a manganese mining enterprise in Tchiatura, state-owned shares of the Georgia Telecom, airports in Tbilisi, Batumi and Poti, as well as hotels in the Adjara Autonomous Republic also made the privatization list. The full list is available only in Georgian.

?The privatization process will be transparent. The state-owned shares will buy those who will pay more,? Kakha Bendukidze, the Georgian Economy Minister, said at a news briefing on July 15.


He said that the privatization of these 372 enterprises and firms will be carried out within the next 18 months.
