Russian Plane Evacuates Citizens
A Russian Emergency Ministry Ilyushin cargo plane with over 100 Russian citizens onboard took off from Tbilisi International Airport on September 29 following Russia?s decision to launch a ?partial evacuation? of its citizens after a spy row erupted between Russia and Georgia.
Russia?s new Ambassador to Georgia, Viacheslav Kovalenko, who has been recalled from Georgia for consultations, was among the passengers.
Russian Embassy spokesman Mikhail Svirin told reporters at the airport that family members of employees of the Embassy and the Headquarters of the Russian Troops in Tbilisi were evacuated.
