Abkhaz Leader Meets UN Envoy

Abkhaz leader Sergey Bagapsh and UN Secretary General?s Special Representative in Georgia Jean Arnault discussed the issue of conflict resolution in Abkhazia during talks in Sokhumi, Apsnypress news agency reported on September 18.

Sergey Bagapsh stressed that Sokhumi supports the implementation of agreements existing between the Georgian and Abkhaz sides; however, he noted that if the Georgian side does not withdraw its troops from upper Kodori Gorge, Sokhumi reserves the right to suspend its participation in the negotiations at all levels.
