CEC Prepares for Polls in Kodori

The Central Election Commission (CEC) said on September 2 that there is a total of 1000 voters in the Georgian-controlled upper Kodori Gorge in breakaway Abkhazia, where a local district election commission has been set up to administer the October 5 local self-governance elections.

There will be a total of four precincts in upper Kodori, or Upper Abkhazia, as it is now referred to by officials in Tbilisi.

There will be 14 members in the local Kodori Gorge Sakrebulo ? 10 members will be elected through a party-list system, while four seats will be given through a majoritarian system, as there will be four single-mandate constituencies, involving the villages of Chkhalta, Azhara, Gentsvisi and Omarishara, according to the CEC.
