Parliamentary Polls Proposed for May 14-24
The ruling party has proposed holding parliamentary elections sometime between May 14 and May 24.
The proposal was outlined in a memorandum, which was unveiled by the ruling party on February 14, which was in response to the twelve opposition parties’ 17 demands.
In a plebiscite held simultaneously with the January 5 presidential election, 79.7% of voters said they favoured holding parliamentary elections in spring instead of late 2008.
